5 Ways to Relieve Stress | Mindfully You NutritionThis past few months have brought me to my knee’s. There has been a lot of change and with changes comes the uncertainty of not knowing. I’m the kind of person who thrives off having all my p’s and q’s in order but when that isn’t possible…. it’s not pretty to say the least. I get stressed, anxious, can’t sleep, turn toward sugary treats and basically feel as if I’m on the edge of a cliff.

The thing is though that life is not a straight road in the middle of Kansas. You can’t look out and see as far as the eye can see. Life has twist and turns that you can’t predict. And while it does sound amazing to be a fortune teller, it would also take the fun out of the everyday journey. So with that in mind, I’ve adapted a few ways to help relieve stress. If you are a Type A personality like me, then I’ve outlined 5 ways to Relieve Stress so you can stop freaking and start breathing below.

  1. Give yourself some self love

Yes, that kind of self love. Look I know this might be uncomfortable to hear but almost everyone masturbates. There is nothing wrong or dirty about it. When you orgasm, a rush of dopamine is released aka the feel good hormone. When you feel particularly on edge, light some candles, put on your favorite jazz record and seduce yourself.

  1. Find a mantra that speaks to your situation

I wasn’t the kind of person who used to believe in mantras, until I was given one by a medium that resonated with me deeply. Repeating a mantra helps break the detrimental negative feedback loop that your brain launches into when you are stressed. On top of that, it makes you feel more empowered and in control. You can google mantra’s that help stress or use the one I use below.

I am free

I am worthy

I am safe

I am loved

I am powerfully protected

I am the ruler of my body and the controller of my mind.  

  1. Creative Meditation

Look, I’m going to be honest with you. Meditation is really freaking hard for me. My mind does not like to shut off for more than five seconds. BUT…I’ve come to find out that you don’t need to sit on a mat in a crossed legged position and just be still with the universe. You can seek the same kind of calmness through finding a hobby you love and getting into the groove. I call it creative mediation. You know when you are absorbed in something so thoroughly that you look up and three hours have passed? It’s a reprieve from the pressures of work and life. Set your alarm for 30 to 60 minutes, depending, then dive into what sets your soul on fire.

  1. Incorporate CBD into your life

CBD or cannabidoil is essentially an adoptogen. It helps your body adapt to stress as well as reduce inflammation in the body. Derived from either the hemp or the marijuana plant, it is non-psychoactive aka wont get you high. I usually take it before bed to help me sleep and not stare at the ceiling for an hour, thinking about my lengthy to do list. If you want to learn more about CBD, read everything about it, here.

  1. Exercise and eat right

I feel as if this goes without saying but if you treat your body like shit, you will feel like shit. Take the time to prepare yourself a wholesome meal, go to that exercise class you have been meaning to check out and leave your worries at home.
